From an accident, repetitive over-use, fatigue or just poor posture, the joints and muscles in our body can become inflamed, irritated or “stuck”. This results in a snowball effect: first, the normal movements that should be happening in our spine, can’t happen. Second, the lack of movement in your spine aggravates your nervous system, which can result in things like pain or decreased range of motion. When your spine doesn’t move as it should, your nervous system doesn’t function as it should, meaning you don’t function as you should. A Chiropractor is extensively trained to be able to identify and fix these locations which are “stuck”! At Robertson Chiropractic, we offer various ways to be able to fix these “stuck” spots.
A Chiropractic adjustment is a safe and gentle technique where the doctor uses their hands or a hand-held instrument to re-introduce normal movement back into the spine and joints, and to turn, this reduces the irritation to the nerves. Without proper nerve function, optimal performance and wellness can’t be reached.
Acupuncture is also a safe and effective way to treat the inflamed, irritated and injured muscles and tissues. Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine which has been used by many different cultures and has stood the test of time. It is a gentle form of treatment, and can be modified to fit your needs! Having trouble getting rid of those trigger points and “knots”? Trigger point therapy is also available at our office! Even if you aren’t a fan of needles, there are other ways to stimulate acupuncture points, so please give us a call and we can find a way to make care more comfortable for you.
Functional screening is an effective way to identify mechanical problems, sometimes even before injuries occur. Under the supervision of the doctor, the patient will go through multiple tests such as a squat, lunge, step-up or other sport specific exercises, to determine where their structural weaknesses are. Especially for an athlete, prevention is key to stay in the game.
SOT, or sacro-occipital technique, is a very gentle chiropractic corrective treatment method, which aims to identify patterns of whole body imbalanced and works to correct it through blocks or wedges, or chiropractic adjustments.
